Some things should never be spoken aloud. Like when I said yesterday, “I should get plenty of stories from this. Plenty.” WHAT was I thinking? I know what I was thinking…this would be fun, lighthearted, maybe a little irritating, but nothing bad would happen. Hahahaha!! Something bad did happen!
I lost the freaking cat.
Yeah. Lost it.
I didn’t mean to! I had the cat in the bedroom with me, the door was closed (so he couldn’t get to the doggie door), but…I had the window open ’cause it was kinda warm, and the cat was able to push open the screen and get out. I don’t know when and I don’t know why I didn’t hear him. But that’s what I woke up to this morning.
I spent a couple of hours walking around my area, shaking some kitty treats and feeling dejected. When the Animal Shelter opened at Noon (why don’t animal shelters keep normal hours??) I went to fill out the Lost Pet form and check all the strays/ferals that they had. Don’t even get me started on having to go to the Animal Shelter. If I could only take all of the dogs and cats home… I would if I could! Obviously the cat hasn’t been brought in yet, so I’ll have to check back tomorrow.
The irony of this whole thing is that my friend was very specific. The only thing he told me was to “please don’t lose my cat.” No problem. How hard could that be? Impossible, apparently!
So this is the plan of action: I went ahead and rented a humane trap (oh, I hope the cat is nearby and hungry!) and I’m going to put up posters, check Craigslist, and check the Animal Shelter every day.
Please oh please I hope I find this cat.
