Favorite Author, Too Few Books

One of my top 3 favorite books (I can’t pick a favorite between the three) is Wally Lamb’s I Know This Much Is True. Unfortunately, Wally Lamb has only written two books, the other one being She’s Come Undone.

Do you have a favorite author that has written too few books? I get on the Internet every once in a while and see if Wally Lamb is in the middle of writing anything else. It’s probably been 10 years since he wrote I Know This Much Is True.

There’s also Alice Sebold who wrote The Lovely Bones, which is probably one of my top 10 favorite books. I’ve been eagerly anticipating her next novel, and it’s finally come out. I’ll wait ’till it’s in paperback, though.

And then I have a favorite trashy novel author, Laurell K. Hamilton, who writes the Anita Blake series. There’s, oh, 12 to 15 books in the series. She has two different series going on simultaneously, and a rumor has cropped up that she’s going to kill of the main characters in one of her series. GAH! I do hate it when a series, and for that matter, an excellent book, come to an end.

On the flip side there’s Gregory Maguire, who wrote one of my top 3 favorite books, Wicked. I was eagerly anticipating his next book, assuming that it could only get better. Finally Son of a Witch came out, and I sludged through it. It was a chore. Now I don’t even really care what he’s coming out with next. Just as long as it’s not a sequel to anything. Please.

Do you have any favorite series that have ended? Or a favorite author who you’re just waiting to write another novel?

I’m waiting for Peony in Love by Lisa See to come out in paperback. I loved Snow Flower and the Secret Fan.

I have heard that Sebold’s Almost Moon is very disappointing, but of course that’s an opinion. I also really enjoyed The Lovely Bones.

Snow Flower and the Secret Fan is in my TBR pile. I’m glad you liked it; it gives me a little more impetus to pick it up next time I go to choose…
