Page 123 Meme

I'm pretty sure you're new to my blog, so I'd like to encourage you to subscribe to my RSS feed. I generally talk about books, authors, blogging, and life. Feel free to poke around; I think you'll really enjoy it! Thanks for visiting!

Lisa from Books on the Brain tagged me for this meme (thanks, Lisa!):

Rules:

1. Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages).
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Tag five people.

I’ve indulged myself recently in a guilty pleasure (I always feel strange saying that in reference to this particular series because Guilty Pleasures is the name of the first book in this series): the next (for me) Anita Blake book. It’s called Burnt Offerings.

Briefly, this is what the Anita Blake (written by Laurell K. Hamilton) is about: Anita Blake is a necromancer (she can raise the dead (i.e. zombies)) and a vampire hunter. The novels take place in the present day under the pretext that vampirism is legal in the United States. At this point there’s 16 (as of June 2008) books in this series. So I’ve got plenty of guilty pleasures before I reach the end (I’m at number seven).

Anyway, on page 123, the three sentences after the fifth sentence says:

Vampires, for obvious reasons, didn’t pray a lot. I mean, who was going to answer? Oh yeah, there was the Church of Eternal Life, but they were more a humanist religion, sort of New Wavey.

Soo…tagging five people………………………………………………………………..I tried to tag five people but all I ended up doing was reading more blogs! So forget about it (said in the voice of, oh, what’s his name?). If you participate because of seeing the meme here, let me know so I can stop by and check it out!

  1. Pardon the change of topic, but you’re the winner of my drawing for a copy of any one of Colleen Gleason’s Victoria Gardella books. Would you please email me at:

bookfoolery at yahoo dot com (no spaces, of course) with your address and choice of book (The Rest Falls Away, Rises the Night or The Bleeding Dusk) and I’ll pass your info on to Colleen?

    Thanks!!
