I Can Post A Comment Now

I’ve grown up with computers and technology, so understanding how these things work has always come very easily to me. Sometimes, though, I have moments that are almost as bad as, “My monitor is broken! It won’t turn on!!” “Well, is it plugged in?” “Oh…no, I guess it’s not.” One such moment has plagued me recently, and I just had to tell you about it.

I’ve been reading quite a few blogs lately, some of them being through Blogger. Blogger has this annoying thing that you have to “sign in” (via Blogger/Google, Typepad, WordPress, etc) or use your “nickname”. This is basically what it looks like:

For whatever reason, I could not get my name to link to my blog. I tried just about everything. I posted my problem in the WordPress forum; I googled my problem; I even emailed my blogging friend, Lisa, to ask how she did it. It didn’t seem like rocket science, but alas, I couldn’t figure it out.

A couple of days ago I had an “aha” moment. As I was typing in my blog’s address (www.trishsdiary.wordpress.com) it occurred to me that I’m always redirected to http://trishsdiary.wordpress.com. Doh! Silly me, no wonder my blog wouldn’t link to my name…I was typing in the wrong freaking address! I guess these things happen to keep my ego in check. :-)

ha I do stuff like that all the darn time. I’m not too tech savy and I constantly can’t figure out how to do supposedly “easy” things with this blog. Oh well, in time I suppose.

Thanks for explaining it so clearly – that’s why it never worked for me!

I still don’t like Blogger. I want to easily jump back to my blog and I feel I get ‘lost’ in blogspotland too easily. not a biggie but it bugs me.
