6 Word Memoir Meme

Lisa tagged me for this meme that comes from Bookbabie:

As I read yet another book review of a memoir this weekend, my husband told me that I should write one. I said that my story would be much too short and rather boring so when I ran across the following book I decided it was just my speed. A six word memoir! Written by Larry Smith and Rachel Fershleiser, Not Quite What I was Expecting: Six Word Memoirs by Famous and Obscure is a compilation based on the story that Hemingway once bet ten dollars that he could sum up his life in six words. His words were- For Sale: baby shoes, never worn. There’s a video on Amazon with examples from the book, it sounds like a fun read! I’d like to start a six word memoir meme and here are the rules:

1. Write your own six word memoir

2. Post it on your blog and include a visual illustration if you’d like

3. Link to the person that tagged you in your post and to this original post if possible so we can track it as it travels across the blogosphere

4 .Tag five more blogs with links

5. And don’t forget to leave a comment on the tagged blogs with an invitation to play!

I, like Lisa, came up with a few before I hit pay dirt (perhaps these aren’t exactly memoirs, but their memoir-ish):

  1. Will time always go so fast?
  2. Is the wedding really worth it? (I don’t mean the marriage, I mean the wedding. And it only took me two seconds, to decide, yup, definitely worth it.)
  3. Where would I be without Dave? (when I tell him, What would I do without you? He replies, You’d be happy and well-adjusted.)
  4. Changing the world my own way.
  5. I’ll read just a little more…
  6. Indecisively traversing life’s windy, rocky road.
  7. Living with lots of loving laughter.

And then it happened. I wrote down my theory on life, which is how I live:

Working to live, living to love.

Life is so much more than the daily grind of work. Even if you love your job, life is really about your relationships and people you love and hobbies you pursue. At least in my opinion.

So…tagging five people now: Heather, Chartroose, Bookfool (her memoir should have something to do with a Poppet…), karen! (I love the ! at the end of her name), and Amy. If I didn’t tag you and you want to do this meme, then tag, you’re it! Leave a link for me so I can come check out your six words.
