In your defence (and mine), the BTT challenge was a little ambiguous, so I don’t think there’s a right and wrong, just different interpretations!

Wow! That worked well! Reminds me of a joke about a contest where students had to write a short story that involved nobility, religion, sex, and mystery. The winner:
“Oh, my God! I’m pregnant,” said the Queen. “I wonder who did it.”

I read yours this morning before I did mine, and I just put the two sentences together thinking that’s what we were supposed to do. Later in the day I read a few others and noticed that they were done much differently (they actually WROTE something, since it’s a WRITING challenge, to connect the sentences-brilliant! Why didn’t I think of that??). So I re-did mine. Not sure if it’s right, but I ‘spose it doesn’t matter!

I love East of Eden… It has been interesting seeing the different sentences selected / how well they connected / what people did with them… I ended up getting rather introspective on my own (www.bookclubclassics.com). I was afraid we were supposed to write our own story connecting the two, but I wasn’t sure whether readers would enjoy my feeble attempt at fiction so I passed on that idea!
