I agree with Laura- I really dislike visiting blogs/sites that have light text on a dark ground. It’s so hard to read, I rarely ever go back.

@Laura – that is such a good piece of advice – black text on a white background is the easiest to read – I can never work out why people go for pink text on a black background (you’d think google would give them a helping hand by not putting such themes in blogger!) Of course Google then proceeds to help us out by making all blogs work in google reader! *lol*

Some great tips here – definitely agree with checking your own site to see what it looks like – worth trying it out on different browsers and screen sizes too.

Something else that a lot of people leave unconsidered is design: if it’s too dark, I won’t read it (because I like to read things at blogs as well as through readers), too many images cluttering, not enough visible structure (i.e. a white page with columns seemingly scattered about where ever), etc. Your design is nice – there’s structure to it and it’s not hard on the eyes in terms of color choice and being too image heavy. Thumbs up from me on that.

Anyhow, that’s one of my biggest blog gripes is that many times people will go for what looks nice to them which may actually end up looking cluttered and nearly unreadable to others.

Thanks for sharing! I think your tips are great. Titles are very important to hook people into your post. And I need to learn more html to fix those little everyday problems. Glad you shared your tips!
