I also checked out The Five People You Meet at Every Book Signing and had to laugh. I’m another gusher, I’m afraid. I doubt I’ll ever be able to break myself of it.

As far as author blogs. I read Alafair Burke’s blog and Tim Hallinan’s blog. Alafair talks a lot about everyday things, which is fun. She asked for help coming up with a book title in one post. Tim is more centered on his writing and creativity and whatnot. He posted several chapters from a book he’s working on to get feedback from the blog readers. He’s also hosting a guest blog series on “creativity.” Very interesting blog. And he has a real sarcastic wit that I just love.

I’ve visited other writers blogs, but those are the only two that I read consistently.

I’m not familiar with either of those authors, but I clicked over to read the The Five People You Meet at Every Book Signing — hilarious! I’m the Circler — not because I don’t want to be sold the book (though that’s true — I’d rather pick it up on my own) but because I AM shy and can’t think of anything to say other than, “I liked your book” — which they’d probably like to hear, but it sounds so lame.

Whenever I read a book that I like or interview an author and they have a blog I will almost always follow. Most authors do have blogs. I also subscribe to all of the local author blogs in my state. They usually keep up to date on author events in the area. All said, I probably subscribe to about 40 author blogs. I don’t always read them but I always scan them. They really are a wealth of information about their own books, the author experience in general and about the books that they are reading.
