Let’s Be Random Today

There’s a few things that I’ve seen or that have happened recently that I want to tell you about, but that don’t really warrant a whole post on their own. So this post should catch all the randomness that has been floating around in my head lately.

This was a conversation between me and my husband recently:

Me: I’m going to clean the shower before I take a shower this morning.

Dave: Why? Didn’t you just clean it?

Me: Well, yeah, I mean, I cleaned it two or three weeks ago. It definitely is time to clean it again.

Dave: The shower doesn’t need to be cleaned every two or three weeks, hon.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A friend of mine showed me this picture. I found it on the Huffington Post, and they say it was taken eight days before she gave birth.

Tell me that’s not just totally disturbing. *shiver* Any desire I had to become pregnant has effectively been quashed.

Dave and I went to Gran Torino last weekend. Fantastic movie. I think I actually want to own that movie.

This is a scanned image of part of the menu from a Chinese food restaurant where I live. I think they’re unclear on the concept of vegetarian.

Eh, as long as you keep it to only 2 or 3 babies in your litter…

Seriously, there is a reason that women don’t naturally have 8 babies and that most fertility doctors wouldn’t implant that many eggs.

1st off – The shower thing….GROSS!!!! Sounds like some men to me “If it does not look dirty, why clean”? NOT -Showers need to be cleaned at least once a week. You are washing off dirty and old, dead skin do you think it all goes down the drain?

    2. The sicko that had 8 babies because she was lonely – Your tummy will not look like that with only one or two in there. Please do not let this person change your mind about having kids…My children are my JOY in life.

    3. Concept of vegetarian – Well you are right with this one – Hope the vegetarians can read 😉

Maybe they’re trying to me the chicken/beef or whatever is chicken like soy product? Or maybe they don’t know what vegetarian means.

Oh my–it is not natural to be pregnant with that many children at once–believe me, it is not that bad! I’ve had three (though not at once), and was rather large with all of them (and they were all 8+ lbs), but am pretty much back to normal–or maybe even better, except for some stretch marks–and my husband doesn’t mind those at all–they are the marks from carrying his beautiful children and a great reminder!

Love the vegetarian Chinese takeout menu! Hee hee!

    Oh. My. Gawd.

I agree that a man’s concept of cleanliness can be a bit, hmm, different. However I am lucky enough to have raised a son who is an exception rather than the rule. Whew!

As for OctoMom as she has been labeled by the media – that is a disturbing photo, but as noted by other commenters not indicative of how a normal pregnancy should look. But I won’t lie, my son was HUGE and I have the stretch marks to prove it. He is worth every single one of them. 🙂

And that menu is HILARIOUS! Thanks for the smile!

My husband is the same way about the shower (and just about everything else in our house to be honest). I’m the one that does the cleaning because no one else notices it until it gets way beyond what’s acceptible to me.

I love the Chinese menu! I think there probably is some confusion going on there. 🙂

Oh, and I agree, some of the facebook tags are completely irritating. That doesn’t stop me from passing them on though! 😉

Okay – the picture of that woman is definitely disturbing. I wonder what her stomach looks like now. I had to read the menu to my hubby and it made us both laugh.

Love the menu. Absolutely loved Gran Tornino — why didn’t that get more recognition???

    The stomach: Gag.

    The menu: too funny!!!

    Love the randomness.

Well, you will not look like that with 1 baby, unless you are having an elephant.

that picture IS yucky! Were you dreaming of getting pregnant with 8?!?! Being pregnant with one or even two just doesn’t look that horrid.

I did NOT need to see that picture of OctoMom. Thanks a LOT, Trish. But you made up for it with the Chinese-restaurant menu – that was too funny, not to mention very confusing :-D!

Just remember — there were EIGHT kids in there! Most pregnant women do not look like that. Nor are they nuts enough to want 14 kids under the age of 8.

    [Reply]

  17. Kimmy

Very disturbing photo! Makes me so glad that we don’t want kids!

I think that photo just goes to show that women are not meant to give birth to that many babies at one time. I think she’s nutso.

    The menu’s hilarious.

I skip a lot of Facebook activities. I’m not sure I really get the point of Facebook, yet, actually. I seldom go there.

My guys are the sloppiest three men on the planet. It’s so weird. I grew up with a neat-freak dad and if I’d known what I was getting into, I think I’d have just stayed single. I miss cleanliness.

The “vegetarian” dishes might be soy/bean curd products designed to taste like whatever kind of “meat” they want. My favorite Chinese place in my hometown does that. I don’t remember what they call the fake products on the menu, but they’re definitely listed under the vegetarian section.

I have 2 children and can honestly tell you that woman cannot be sane. She should never had been allowed to have all those children she cannot take care of and no job, and all the other children and people wonder if she’s stable?…hello, that answer would be no. I cannot believe how hard it is for someone to adopt that want so much to have a child that doesn’t have any and someone with no means of supporting them can walk in and get them inserted and on there way into this world just like that!! I feel sorry for those children and how they will grow up in all the caous that will be going on, and i think she can forget about any knight and shining armor riding up on his white horse. ( Just my opinion )

Worrying about pregnancy when you’re deciding whether to have a child or not is like worrying about whether you will cut yourself trying to open something packaged in one of those hard shell plastic cases. It’s a pretty small part of the whole experience, and not that important in the long term.

I’ll bet the person who wrote the menu meant that vegetables are included in the dish. Although it is funny when someone claims to be vegetarian because it’s trendy. Have you seen Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog? There’s a great moment in there when some silly fangirls venerate a character because she “works with the homeless and doesn’t eat meat.”

    # 2 – Yucky. I thought that the first time I saw it and yes, it would put me off wanting to have more children.

Yes, my idea of dirty and husband’s idea of dirty are two different things. Where’s the bleach!

    Where’s the beef…. 🙂

    It’s a wonder that woman’s stomach didn’t burst. Seriously.

We have this daily stuff we spritz in the shower but it only gets a real scrubbing a couple times a month.

I’ll have the vegetarian sweet and sour chicken. Bwaaaa haaa haaa haaa!!! What would that be, just the sauce?

  24. Jessica

this is a hysterical post Trish! Vegetarian Chicken?! Vegetarian beef?! Geesh!

And that woman. There is so many things wrong with this picture. I mean, come on. That one is off, or something.

Don’t worry- you don’t get that big! Well……

That menu is fantastic! Hello!!!! I won’t even comment on that stomach…..I’m just glad I’m not in CA paying for those babies.

Actually Trish, being a strict vegeatarian I eat that stuff on Chinese menus all the time. They are not real meat. They are simulated to resemble the realy thing. Some of them are so close to tasting like the real thing that I won’t eat them. Such as vegetarian shrimp. It tastes fishy to me and I hate that taste.

Trish, we’ve some of those menus here too!
The vegetarian restaurants stressed that all the things they cooked are vegetables or made from soy products. They’re just trying to tell their patrons that what they’re serving is very close to the original dishes but the only thing is they’re vege. than meat products. 🙂

I TOTALLY get irrationally irritated by things too. And I have no good reason. Facebook irritates me in general. Irrationally. And that meme does too.

That poor girl. I wonder if she has to get plastic surgery to get her stomach back to normal. Ick!

  32. Meghan

That picture doesn’t necessarily put me off having babies but does put me off having 8 at once!

Also, my Chinese restaurant has a very similar menu. I thought it was hilarious. 😀

Regarding cleanliness – showers should be cleaned weekly! Once when living with my friends in college, one of us decided not to clean on her week and then the rest of us thought if she didn’t do it we wouldn’t either. We quickly learned just how disgusting bathrooms could get.

First, her stomach makes me want to vomit.
Second, I am a vegetarian and you wouldn’t believe how many people think adding a little bacon or maybe some chicken broth is hunky dory.
