I'm pretty sure you're new to my blog, so I'd like to encourage you to subscribe to my RSS feed. I generally talk about books, authors, blogging, and life. Feel free to poke around; I think you'll really enjoy it! Thanks for visiting!
This video is me, Natasha from Maw Books, and Amy from My Friend Amy just talking a little bit about the festival. Most of my recap of the LA Times Festival of Books will be in various videos, because I think my enthusiasm comes across better. So more videos will be forthcoming this week!
I asked Amy from My Friend Amy and Natasha from Maw Books to record a video on why they started a book blog. I then spliced everything together into this video!
For some reason, my own audio is off, so my parts looked like an old dubbed over foreign film. My mouth will move and no words will come out, then words start spilling out, but then my mouth will stop moving and the words keep coming. If I’d known this was going to happen, I would have played it up.
We’re hoping to do more of these, so if you have any topics you’d like us to discuss, let me know!
In this video, Jessica, from Both Eyes Book Blog, and I debate what people should list in their LibraryThing. And I should say, that I don’t care anymore what people put in their LibraryThing. I did care at one point, but that’s just part of my personality and being obsessive compulsive and wanting everyone to follow the rules. I’ve ceased caring about what people put in their LibraryThing and have moved on to equally mundane obsessions.
My friend Jessica from Both Eyes Book Blog and I thought it would be fun to finish the Twilight series around the same time (we both needed to read Eclipse and Breaking Dawn) and then discuss it on video, as opposed to typing up our thoughts. So we did!
Please please please understand this is our first attempt at doing this. We hope to do this again, and hopefully it’ll get better and your eyes won’t bleed when you watch it.
Also, there was one thing that we talked about that didn’t get recorded. And that was why we read the Twilight series in the first place, since neither one of us thought the books were very good. As avid readers, we feel an obligation to read certain books because they become a part of our culture. People who don’t read very much will read those books, and it gives us (the avid readers) a common ground in which to talk about reading with non-readers.
Well, I guess I can’t stall any longer. The video’s kinda long. It’s just over 15 minutes.

And we had one outtake. Sure is fun having dogs when you’re trying to record a video.
